It's been way too long since we were recording anything. It was a strange year with health issues of all kinds. But last weekend felt like we finally get back in. We recorded Electric Guitar and Mouth-harp for a new song with Jan's brother Jos Roedolf. We hope to be able to push through.

Due to the pandemic, lockdown situation we didn't see Rich to make our Christmas photo for this year. But ... instead we have a re-cut video, with some unreleased imagery we filmed at the time. (Version 2021)

Finally, it looks like the world is getting rid of the Covid-19 state. At least here in our country. Hopefully life can go on as it was before.
In the meantime Jan and Let have moved to another part of the country. So things did change a bit, and the play frequency will be on a lower level. But the music sessions feel like old times.
It's really great to be back on track! We are working on some songs and they sound great already, they are fun playing, and they are making us feel proud again.
So hopefully we can go on finish this album, even though some songs are still to be written haha.

Wow ... It's been a real long time since we were together and played music. In another time, another house, another town, another county.
We so so so hope to play together soon. But for now we were very happy to finally see each-other again.
In the mean time Richard is recording new ideas while Jan & Letty are trying to get the new house ready.

Well ... today the wold is in Quarantine because of Covid-19. We all try to stay at home as much as possible. For as long as needed we don't see Richard. so we don't play together with him. A break we didn't plan. But it's for the better, so we do as asked.
In the mean time we all still work on songs.........on Lyrics, Trombone parts, new Drum parts etc. and I think Richard will come with some beautiful new material for songs.
For now we can give you a little preview of what's to come, the first sounds of our next CD. We hope you like it:

Today we uploaded a new cut of our "Dickens in the snow" video. There's not much changed, but it's a little updated on the end and the intro part is a little shorter. Do you wanna see it? ... Go ahead ... it still makes us happy :-)

Last Saturday we were at Tuckerville, the music festival of Ilse DeLange. And we've had the opportunity to give her our CD "Far from the Rat Race", That was really special, because our song "Mountain Trail" was born right after watching "Ilse's Veranda". We hope one day she will hear it, and maybe she will even remember this story. For now ... we listen and enjoy her beautiful new album "Gravel & Dust".

Far from the Rat Race is on it's way now. Wow! How exciting!!! We've worked so so so hard on it, and now it's out of our hands. It's scary, but also a happy relief. We hope to have it in our hands before the end of April.

Mission Accomplished!!!!
Yesterday the 3 of us had the last listening session And we are happy with the result. Now we gotta find a presser for the CD and then there's the release. Whoaaaaaa!!!!!

The mixing is done. Mastering is the keyword today and it's going pretty well. Jan is working his butt off to get the best sound he can get. He's checking it on every sound-system we have. So very soon our second CD will be reality.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! Here we are!!! Today is the release of our very first Videoclip. Dickens in the Snow was an experimental project because of all the firsts. We filmed at home by the fireplace but also in London City the weekend of December 1st. It was fun, everything was fun. The writing, recording and especially the filming. We've had help from Mandy, Richard's daughter. She came to London with us to film. But I'll quit the talking now,. We really hope you will enjoy.... Dickens in the Sno-o-o-o-ow!!!:

At Christmas eve 2017, we wrote a Christmas song together. In the meantime we've finished and recorded the song. And last Saturday we've spend a day filming the band for this song. It's just the first filming day of 2, so ... you might wanna stay tuned if you wanna know what's coming up next. Cuz' we will take the plane to a special location to finish this video before Christmas this year ...!

We're very busy with all of the songs. Writing, recording, mixing and playing and we actually do make progress. Yesterday we've recorded our first guest singer Suzanne Koelman. She will be heard as a 2nd voice in the country song "Mountain Trail". We're excited about the result and all of our nieuw songs and how they all sound. Again we are kinda surprised by what we've accomplished. We really love making music ....

A new year, a new dawn and fresh motivation, we continue working on the songs we were recording already. All in bits and pieces, no rush.
We now have quite a few. A new song is Mountain Trail, a bit of a country song with a nice flow in it. And there is a little Jazzy song on the road which is probably called Face and Rise. Ideas are plenty. And we're still having great fun doing this.

At Christmas Eve we played with Jan Nieuwenhuis and wrote a Christmas song. It was fun playing with the 4 of us, Jan N. on Bass. This song will be recorded for the next CD ... off course by the 4 of us.

At the moment we are working on 3 songs: Two sides to a coin, Spanish Butterfly & ... The Spotted Cat. Three great songs. We work really hard and we're eager to give the songs all we possibly can and even a little more.

The Challenge (Team 48), is our new single and will be released on i-tunes on Friday May, 26 2017.
It's a totally different song for us. Lot's of energy for instance. And .......... we have a featuring artist, which is our friend Paulus. He does a little backing vocals and great BeatBoxing.
Paulus asked us to write a song for his Roparun running team HunterDouglas, team 48.
The weekend of 3-4-5 June they run from Paris to Rotterdam in a relay-race, day and night. Benefit for Cancer Patients.

The Challenge is a song we've recorded for "The Roparun and especially for Team 48 called "Hunter Douglas".
The Roparun is a relay race of approximately 520 kilometres from Paris and 560 kilometres from Hamburg to Rotterdam, in which people work as a team to give a combined sports performance in order to raise money for people who suffer from cancer.
The Hunter Douglas team of our friend Paul van den Heuvel is running from Paris to Rotterdam. Paul is one of the runners in his team.
Paul asked us to write a song for his team and we picked a tune from the past, written by Richard. At the time Richard was in a band, called Melon Pack, with Jan and Paul and he spontaneously started this guitar riff right after a certain song. They all liked this riff.
For this occasion we finished the song and made appropriate Lyrics. We asked Paul to join us and you will hear him do some BeatBoxing in this song and also a little backing vocals. It's a song with a serieus and an energetic side.
Yesterday were the last vocal recording sessions. Yet there's some 2nd Trombone to record and some mixing to do. But soon the song will be released.

Yesterday we've brought a box full of CD's to a recordstore in Utrecht called De Plaatboef. The idea of our CD spreading through the country is so exciting.

And suddenly ... out of the blue ... there's someone at the door, ringing the bell, telling he's got a large package for us. What!! ... Really!!! ....No!! But ... Yes ... here they are. The big reward we worked so hard on ... our own music on our own CD. Our Christmas Present. Excitement all over!!

And ... here we go ... the mastered songs are on their way to Germany. Kinda scary and very exciting. Now we're waiting for the CD's to be delivered.

We're still in the mastering phase, it's more difficult than expected. The sound image has changed every time we check the result. It seems to be hard to keep the sound image in the balance we want it to be, where Jan worked so hard on, for so long. Background sounds are highlighted and Vocals are higher than they actually are or they are in the background. So, we're still working on it.

Today we were at the RCS studio to explain the way we see our music and what's important for us. There is a little correction needed, we hope it's just a little. Sound is a strange thing, one little change can effect so much. There's also only a little correction needed on the booklet. But at this moment it looks like we will have the CD's before Christmas.

We are in the middle of the mastering proces and we're full of expectations. The first results were not quite what we had in mind, although the sound was very good.
